My story
A Cheshire photographer:
The past. The present. The future.
The past:
I always had a camera in my hand!
You know that friend who’s always taking pictures on your nights out? That was me, back in the day. Snapping away, camera always ready for the next perfect pic. I always ended up with gazillions of photos to trawl through the next morning.
During primary school trips, I was more excited about the fact that my Mum was going to give me a disposable camera to capture it all, rather than being excited about the trip itself (sorry mum)!
I’d been obsessed with my step-dad’s brand new fresh-off-the-market digital camera – I used to sneak it out with me and take photos of my mum’s flower garden or my little sister.
Back then, I never imagined I’d actually end up working as a professional photographer.
My photography journey
Like lots of photographers, my career path has been winding and varied. I studied photography at college and I felt deflated after I qualified, so I worked in care homes and customer relations.
I didn’t know it at the time, but the college photography course and my employed roles all helped me develop a load of skills that come in really handy as a baby, family and wedding photographer: of course the technical photography skills are useful – but so are a caring and compassionate approach and a first-class customer service.
My Biggest Secret….
I am a huge introvert!
Yep, becoming a business owner and having to put myself out there has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do
(ok maybe the 2nd hardest thing, 1st being pushing out three children..).
The present:
Finding my place
I didn’t really know what I wanted at 18 – or in my early 20s for that matter. But something shifted when I had children of my own. My kids are my greatest achievement. They gave me a sense of accomplishment and made me feel drawn towards a career in photography. They also gave me that all-important self-belief I needed to give it a try.
“Becoming a mum helped me find my niche.”
Doing what I love
I started my photography business with a focus on taking outdoor photos of babies, children and families. It took a while to gain momentum – and I’m still working on banishing the imposter syndrome. But here I am today: a proud mum of three, with my own photography studio in central Cheshire (Winsford, to be precise), specialising in capturing the connection, love and joy between parents, babies, children and families.
I really am so thankful to all my happy customers – past, present and future. Thanks for trusting me with your loved ones. For all your amazing reviews. For returning again and again. And for helping me spread the word – online and offline – about my gorgeous little business. Thank you so much for choosing me.
